Speaking and Volunteering
In 2020, we introduced career seminar talks to introduce students to the wide variety of careers that hire geoscientists. In 2021, we are continuing this series and are always looking for industry professionals to tell their stories.
The Student Expo wouldn't be possible without our volunteers. There is a tremendous amount of work that our volunteers do to put on a successful event. We are always looking for professionals to help execute the event.
During the virtual day 2 of the 2021 Student Expo, there will be two career seminar sessions that will focus on the different careers geoscience students can pursue. We are currently seeking professionals from the petroleum, geothermal, CCUS, Environmental, Mining, and GIS industries to talk about their careers and how a student can get into that specific field.

The Student Expo Committee is a part of the Houston Geological Society. Within the society, the committee specifically focuses on the Student Expo that has traditionally been held in during the Fall recruiting season for the past 20 years. Event planning and the first committee meetings typically start in May of each year to prepare for registration that opens in July. The committee is always looking for volunteers to help in the planning, recruiting, and execution of the event. Without our volunteers and sponsors, this event would not be possible.
